Decorative Concrete Contractors

Red River Concrete

Mark Osteen started his company, Red River Concrete Designs, in January of 2004 in Ardmore Oklahoma. And this is what he's got to say in his own words:

"I had been looking for a business to get into where I could work for myself and after attending a seminar at Engrave-A-Crete in Florida I had no doubt about what I wanted to do. I bought just about everything they had to offer and went back home to Oklahoma. My next challenge was to pick which products to use on my jobs. I tried a lot of different stains and to tell you the truth, I just like the depth of color I get with the ChemTone Acid Stains from Decosup and it's not just the quality of the products but also the support I get from the Dallas office, which has proven to be invaluable.
My first job was a screened in porch that we stained using Espresso and engraved into flagstone. It was January and I about froze to death. I priced it far too cheap and was sure beginning to have doubts about my new chosen profession."

Red River Concrete Designs has come a long way since that first job two years ago. They have done projects on everything from patios and pools to showrooms and complete homes. The project that won them the "Project of the Year" at Decosup's first annual Contractors Forum was a new showroom and office complex in Weatherford Texas. The majority of the floor was stained Sahara Tan and engraved in Flagstone. There are several circles scored with a cobblestone pattern engraved in between the circles. The center of the circles are adorned with a Texas Star stained in a dark Espresso. The floors are truly magnificent and the owner, Wayne Hodges, says that they are the first thing that everyone complements him on when they come into his new place.
Mark has recently began doing overlays. Mark states:" We use to turn down jobs all the time because the concrete was too bad to stain. Overlays have added a whole new way to satisfy the desire people have for stained concrete."
"I think the thing that has made us successful is that we never get into a rut of doing the same things over and over. Every job is a one of a kind designed specifically for that customer. I love getting the customer involved in the design aspect and then seeing their face when they see the finished product."
