Dear Friends
Well, the WOC 2006 was a blast,
according to show management it was the biggest show
in it's 32 year life in both size and attendance.
Every one we talked to, exhibitors and attendees alike
were very happy and satisfied with what they got out
of this mammoth exposition. In
this issue of The Innovator we will highlight some
interesting products we saw in Vegas, we'll take a
look at the artistry in concrete and we bring you a
couple of articles from contractors Melissa Cuthbert
and Steve
VandeWater. Enjoy

| How to deal with fixing other contractors work. |

In this very insightful article,
Melissa Cuthbert of Details Decorative Concrete
takes an in depth look at a very common situation
that not many people like to talk about. She
explains in detail how her company deals with it ....

| How to make a better impression (on stamped concrete) |
 |
|
Once again Steve
VandeWater gives us a great
tip on how to get a more even texture when stamping
concrete.
Steve has been stamping concrete
for a long time so his experience is great,
nevertheless; he always listens to other contractors
and here he talks about something he learned from a
fellow stamper and how it helped him improve his
own workmanship. This helps illustrate how
contractor networking is a good thing.

| Contractor Highlight |
 |
|
For a guy that came from the commercial epoxy
industry Mark Bentley from Bentley
Concrete Fusion is not doing too bad as a
decorative concrete contractor. We met two
years ago during a demo I was doing in NC where he
took an interest on staining but for a while he
wasn't too
convinced about this line of work. A year and a half
and a bunch of jobs later he found himself being one
of the best acid stainers/resurfacers in his area.
This is when it dawned on him that he did have a
natural talent....

| The Billy Banger makes an impact. |
 |
|
Bill Shorey "The Colorman" came up with this
tool concept years ago
but couldn't convince any of the stamping tool companies
to make it. I met with the guys from Proline
in San Diego last year and this tool came up in the
conversation. I told them that
there was a real need for this item in the industry
and not to take it so lightly. We discussed designs and
sizes and then
Jeff and Paul did their thing and came up with this
prototype and named it the "Billy Banger" in
honor of The Colorman. They
showed it at the WOC and they couldn't believe the
response they got from all the contractors that saw
it. No more banging the touch up mats with your bare
hands!
Needless to say, it will be available soon
and I'll let you know when it's on the market. All I
can say is thank you Bill for such a great idea
and thanks Jeff, Paul and Larry from Proline for
actually making it.

|
This year, the Artistry in
Concrete was superb, we were very impressed by the
quality of the work and the extent of the
detail.
Kudos to Joe Nasvik for organizing
and running such a great event.
We took a
few pictures to show some of the work we liked..
